Sailboat Races Lake Superior

Monday, July 26th, 2010

On Wednesday evenings, white sails dot the waters in front of our Lake Superior bed and breakfast in Duluth. This has become a tradition in Duluth, and what a delightful tradition it is. Mariners love it because it is thrilling and fun to race. Land lubbers love it because it is pretty. Our Duluth bed and breakfast affords wonderful views of the races. Join us some Wednesday evening and see for yourself.

It's hard to find a better view of the Wednesday evening sailboat races on Lake Superior.

Duluth Golf is Great

Golfplatz Bad Kleinkirchheim

Golf in Duluth.

It really is. What a wonderful way for folks to get outside, exercise, and play a game. You can golf against yourself or against others. You can golf any day of the week, in just about any weather (excepting snow). You can travel the world with your golf clubs in tow.

There is wonderful golf near our Duluth bed and breakfast. Folks who have played Lester Park or Enger Park Golf Courses in Duluth will rave about them. They both offer 27 holes that can be played by players of all levels. Play a short game during your Duluth vacation and still have plenty of time to explore other aspects of Duluth. Or play a long game and take time to admire spectacular views of Duluth and Lake Superior. You can schedule a tee time up to seven days in advance, or spontaneously walk-in. Golf club rentals are available. (more…)

Tall Ships Coming to Duluth

Monday, July 12th, 2010

It’s true. Duluth is the only Lake Superior port of call for eight magnificent Tall Ships making their way to six cities in the United States and Canada. We can’t wait. Our Lake Superior bed and breakfast is wonderfully positioned to witness this rare event – the ships will sail past our beach.

Stay at our Duluth b&b and have the experience of a lifetime.

The following ships are scheduled to arrive July 28, 2010: U.S. Brig Niagara, Barque EUROPA, HMS Bounty, Pride of Baltimore II, Roald Amundsen, ZEETO, S/V Denis Sullivan, Roseway, Freedom Schooner Amistad. Additional vessels may also arrive. The ships will be in Duluth until August 3. Have we said we can’t wait?

In addition to enjoying incredible views of the ships when under sail, guests of our Duluth bed and breakfast will also be quite close to the center of Tall Ship activity – we can walk to Bayfront Festival Park and Harbor Drive behind the DECC from the inn. Guests may easily stroll down to enjoy live music, stagings of the Pirates of Penzance, and ship tours.

We look forward to welcoming guests when the Tall Ships come to Duluth July 28 – August 3, 2010. We look forward to meals on the deck while watching the ships. We can’t wait to walk to the park to get close to them. What a festive occasion!
