Lake Superior Lighthouses

The Lighthouse is an icon of the Great Lakes. For more than a century, sailors have depended on them to guide them through darkness, fog and storms. Their light has prevented more than one shipwreck and saved more than one life.

Duluth Lighthouse

We are fortunate to have two lighthouses quite close to our bed and breakfast Duluth. The North Breakwater Lighthouse and the South Breakwater Lighthouse were used to mark the entrance to the canal and the Lift Bridge. Only one is still operational, but they both remain significant Duluth landmarks.

Touring Lake Superior Lighthouses is a fun way to create a travel itinerary. There is something magical about them, even for folks who are not mariners. Something evocative.

Let us feed you a wholesome, home-cooked breakfast at our Duluth bed and breakfast overlooking Lake Superior. Then set out in search of Lake Superior Lighthouses. Drive up the coast to Two Harbors and beyond to Split Rock, or head east to Wisconsin and the Wisconsin Point Lighthouse. Or see them as they were meant to be seen – from the water.
