April in Duluth

Theater in Duluth blossoms in April. While there are great productions year round here, the calendar seems to be overflowing with fantastic plays and musical events next month. Read on the learn some of the great upcoming events, so you’ll know when to book a room at our Duluth bed and breakfast.

Expect the unexpected.

The weekend of April 8 – 10, 2010 has several good options for live entertainment. Leaves of Glass will be at The Play Ground, a unique space designed to help artists show their work to the public. This British drama uncovers a monstrous secret in the life a successful man who seems to have it all. Looking for something a bit more upbeat? Rent will be performed at the Duluth Playhouse April 8 – 25, 2010.

There are a few great events at the University of Minnesota in April. The Vocal Jazz Caberet is sure to be an uplifting experience the weekend of April 8 – 10. The UMD Chamber Orchestra will take us Bach to Basics the following weekend (April 16). Internationally renowned pianist Nicolas Mallarte will take the stage on the 20th.

Is that your phone?

You’ll never regard your cell phone the same way again after watching Dead Man’s Cell Phone, the new play by Sarah Ruhl, MacArthur “Genius” Grant recipient and Pulitzer Prize finalist. It shows at the Renegade Theater Company at 8pm, April 15-17, 22-24, 29-May 1.
