We’d like to extend the same welcome to you from Solglimt, which stands in the just steps from our famous Aerial Lift Bridge. For a century now, this massive steel structure—the only one like it in the world, in fact—has greeted huge, ocean-going freighters (“Salties” as we like to call them) and even larger “Lakers” carrying ore and coal to steel plants 2,000 miles to the east.
Rising to a height of 138 feet, our Aerial Lift Bridge allows even the largest of these vessels to pass through, dwarfing spectators who stand just a few feet away.
It’s an impressive sight. It’s the symbol of Duluth. And we celebrate with hospitality its welcoming spirit. Join us.
